Lizards have a wide range of things which they have in their diet including but the diet of a lizard varies and depends on which type of lizard it is. Many of the lizards are insectivores, feeding on all kind of insects and spiders. Where as most of them also feed on vegetables and fruits also.
A lot of lizards also feed on some plants and are herbivores lizards. For example in the Galapagos Island a lot of marine iguanas can be found in large quantities. These iguanas feed only on the alga which comes off the wet rocks.
However some types of lizards are even omnivores, who have a wide variety of plants and small animals included in their diet. Where as the larger lizards like the Gila Monster are just carnivores feeding on other small animals especially the smaller lizards.
Many lizards have a unique feature of finding their food through visual movements. For example the Whiptails use their sense of smell to find other small animals under the soil.

Lizards have many amounts of teeth, not only on their lower and upper jaws but they have teeth present on the roof of their mouth which is why it is very easy for them to crush food in their jaws and then start swallowing.
