    "The Necklace" is a one of the masterpieces of the short stories. It was written by famous French writer named Guy de Maupassant.

    In this story the title character is Matilda who was born in a poor family and she got married with a clerk. So she was leading her life hand to mouth. But she had the dreams of luxurious life. If she is eating something she will dream what the elite class will eat in the dinner. She wanted to avail every luxury of life. She wanted to lead the life of comfort and affluence. She had the dreams of having great wealth so that she can join some higher society women in the town.

    In the story "The Necklace" by Guy de Maupassant the main character is Matilda who had the dreams of wearing costly jewelry. And she also had dreams about wearing very costly and fashionable cloths. But she could not avail all these things due to her poverty.
    These were the dreams of Matilda in the story "The Necklace." And she want to lead her life in this way.
