Why Are American Citizens So Stupid About The Native American Indian?

I think part of it is upbringing and the school system. It seems the school system either chooses to cover up stuff involving native americans or not at all. Then you just have your just plain ignorant types that don't want to understand. I'm part Lenape and where I work I have to listen to the stupidest stuff to ever come out of the mouth of a person. I do laugh at them when they try to make fun by using false information and I call them on it. But mostly its just them being mean.

We just have to let them be ignorant. As long as we are proud of our heritage and can find others would truly want to learn, the rest can just be waved away with one hand and forgotten.

Learn proper grammar and maybe people will respect you instead of falling into that stereotypical "Indian" persona.

I guess people just assume and act on what they hear.  But you are right.  They should not assume, and actually ask someone in a friendly manner, or research it.  I am part cherokee indian, and I dont know much about my herritage.  But I know it wouldn't be hard to find out by reseaching it.  I love native american stuff especially dolls, etc.  I do agree with you though.  Take care.
