Where Is Horton In The UK?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The name Horton is quite common for a village in the country of England. It is of Anglo Saxon origin and the meaning it conveys is 'dirty farm'.

There are numerous places to which the name can be attributed. These places spread all over the nation and you can find them in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Lancashire, Northamptonshire, Shropshire, Somerset, Staffordshire and Surrey.

The Horton you will find in Berkshire is a small village situated between Windsor and Staines. The village has fame because it was home to one of the legendary writers in the history of the English literature; John Milton, the epic poet of the 'Paradise Lost', lived here. A glass window of the 19th century in the church still commemorates his poem.
