I think it's just about the same and if people would get their heads out of they're butts they could see that. Even though there is some differences of course.

During the Melting Pot period there was still land to be home-steaded. Immigrants commonly went to less-developed areas where they did not form a burden on existing school systems. There were no state-funded health-care facilities or Welfare programs then.
