1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

WAIS or the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale is a generic test for measuring the intelligence level or quotient that is, the IQ of an individual. This method of evaluation was released in the year 1955 in February, as an improved version of the Wechsler Bellevue Test that came out in the year 1939 and which was approved as a standard test for individuals exceeding the age of sixteen.

The complete IQ scale is divided into fourteen groups, resulting in fourteen tests for each group. The fourteen tests consist of seven verbal tests and seven performance scales.

The scale offers three different scores, in terms of: Verbal IQ, performance IQ and a composite IQ based on the former two scores. The test has since evolved in form, although still possessing the reliability it did before. The existing version is called as WAIS - III
