The Gateway Arch which is also called ‘Gateway to the West” was designer by Eero Saarinen who was an American architect actually from Finland. The other designer of the monument was Hannskarl Bandel who was a structural engineer. The design was made in the year 1947 and the construction which started in 1963 ended in 1965. So this makes the monument forty three years old. For the public, the Gateway Arch was opened in 1967.
