Blurred vision, thirsty all the time, slow healing wounds, yeast infections, frequent urination the list goes on ,these are just some of thee more popular ones. Different strokes for different folks , i suggest the person get regular check-ups and watch diet. Diabetes can be very deadly causing kidney failure, blindness and amputations of limbs, especially toes.

The only true way to discover if someone has diabetes is with a blood test. Many cases of the disease go undiagnosed because there are few or no symptoms. Blood testing is relatively painless and covered by most insurance. Beg, plead or threaten, but get your friend to the doctor.

Most everything here describes the high glucose level symptoms and that is most common in people with diabetes that has yet to be diagnosed. I have had diabetes since I was very young. The primary thing that others noticed was my fruity breath. Talking to the doctor, the other symptoms, all of which are listed above, can also be associated with other illnesses as well but the breath is the one thing that is only associated just too high blood sugars and ketones (acid in the urine that also destroys the brain and other organs).
I would also suggest you look on the webMD website for additional things to look for or ideas on the symptoms you do know this person has in case it is something else.

Excessive thirst and frequent urination, unexplained weight loss or gain, very slow healing, toenails can become very thick and yellow, tired , sluggish feeling , blurred vision and so on. But should be checked asap because diabetes can be fatal if not treated properly.

True, the only diagnostic test for diabetes is a blood test or glucose. However, there are symptoms you can detect such as: Fatigue, thirst, hungry all the time but still losing weight, sores that do not heal, urinating frequently and especially at night during sleep hours. Please convince your friend to see his/her Dr. Diabetes has no cure but can be managed very effectively in most people. If it is not managed, it can cause life threatening complications like blindness, kidney failure, major organ damage and nerve damage.

Itchy skin is ALSO a sign of Diabetes. I am a diabetic and when they found my blood sugar count was 780 about 6 years ago (in addition to the frequent urination, tiredness, blurred vision, insatiable hunger, and constant thirst that NOTHING would quench-not even plain water) I was put into the hospital. The best advice I can give is to go to the doctor and they'll draw blood and urine (because the sugar can actually spill into the urine). ALSO, vomiting is a sure sign of high blood sugar and you don't want that because that means one can slip into a coma because their sugar has gone way too high. If you or the person your concerned about has a glucose meter, you'll want to prick their finger and test their blood. "Normal" range is 80-130. Anything above and beyond that is too high and requires attention. ALSO, if the glucose meter will not give you a reading, that means that the blood sugar is SO HIGH that the machine won't read it and this is EXTREMELY dangerous. Hope I've helped too in some way
and good luck to you and your friend.
and good luck to you and your friend.
