Is Annual Travel Insurance A Good Deal Or Not?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

So long as you make at least two or three trips abroad per year, most people will save money by taking out an annual travel insurance policy rather than purchasing insurance for individual trips.

Typically, an annual travel policy covers an unlimited number of journeys. The duration of a trip can be for up to 60 days at a time.

The main exclusions to look out for regard age, pregnancy and sporting activities. All policies have upper age limits, so be ensure you are within the age limit for the life-time of the policy.

Rules for expectant mothers vary from company to company, so check this out before you buy.  Some companies are happy to insure up to the 28th week of pregnancy, medical advice permitting, while others won't provide any cover past the 22nd week.

An annual travel insurance policy does not include winter or other hazardous sports as standard. You may be covered if skiing was incidental to the holiday, e.g. if you were on a coach trip in the Alps and decided to try snowboarding. But if you were going expressly on a skiing or snowboarding holiday, it's vital you have adequate cover.
