    In Ancient times:The annual Nile floods set nutrients into the soil, which made it perfect for growing crops It provided a plentiful source of fish, mud to make bricks for housing, irrigation for crops, drinking and bathing water.It was also used as a roadway.Now:Dams on the river provide Hydro-electric power, canals still provide irrigation to crop fields.The river is still a road-way and is a great tourist attraction.The only source for drinking water for Egyptians.**The great Greek historian, Herodotus, wrote that 'Egypt was the gift of the Nile'   he meant, without the Nile, they would be no Egypt.
