Gautama Buddha was born in India as the only son of a king. As a prince, his name was Siddhartha. He left the palace in search of finding the meaning of life and eventually he found the meaning of life. His followers are called Buddhists and their religion is called Buddhism. Therefore, Buddhism began in India.
