Can I Be Tested For Viral, Bacterial Or Fungal Diseases By Request, Or Does An MD Have To Refer Me?

I was diagnosed with Histoplasmosis 30 years ago, and told there was no treatment. All these years, I have kept chronic bronchitis with a VERY productive cough, and have developed arthritis. However, every MD dismisses my concerns, as if I'm a Hypochondriac. Does it have to be there idea?

To the best of my knowledge symptoms usually last a few days, so being diagnoised 30 years ago, the viral, bacterial or Fungal disease would not be present, if so however you would have scaring of the retina, which may be present to the doctors, therefor lack of, would cause the doctors to dismiss the disease,  I did find a web site for you though at www.nei.nih.gov

as for the last part, yes, a doctor would have to refer you and if you are firm in stating you want this tested, I don't see why they would at least in their opinion "Humor you" and give you the test
