Where Is Pisa?

Answer Question

Pisa is the famous site of Leaning Tower and a city in Tuscany in Northern Italy. The city of Pisa is at the mouth of Arno river on the Mediterranean sea. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is one of the 7 great wonders in the world, and is known for its leaning stature as a result of faulty foundation on unstable soil. The tower leans about 14 feet out of line and visitors are prevented from climbing the steps to the top.

The problem with Pisa Tower has been identified as having too much weight of marble on a shifting subsoil foundation especially on a lean structure. The tower measures up to 170 feet and was erected in three different instances, first starting in 1173 and getting finished in 1284.

A series of delicate projects have already been taken up to stabilize the soil around the tower over the decades. The tower was closed to the public several times owing to the danger it posed. However, after the latest efforts to correct the lean as far as possible to its original stable posture, the tower was reopened to the public in the year 2001.
