The story of Noah's Ark is a story, which is believed in Judaism, Christianity and Islam, all three of the religions having deep conviction about the occurrence, although the mode of story-telling differs from one religion to another. This piece of history is a living tradition among the Armenians, who claim that they are the first race of people to be born on Earth after the Great Deluge. Local legend has it that the remains of Noah's Ark were long to be seen on the top of the mountains of Arafat.
The village of Aghuri was situated at the foot of the mountains. Once again, legends claim that in accordance with tradition, Noah built his altar and made a sacrifice as a manner to pay gratitude to God for his safe deliverance. Later on he even planted his own vineyard there. The village was destroyed later on by an earthquake in 1840 and was located near mountain Arafat, which stands in the Turkish territory overlooking the point where the frontiers of Turkey, Iran and Sovet Armenia converge. This mountain is exactly the place where the remains of Noah's Ark were discovered according to many legends.
