There are basically four types of fronts namely- cold, warm, occluded and stationary. They all relate quite differently to everyday weather conditions. Cold fronts may not necessarily bring cold weather along with them. Warm fronts on the other hand often bring about some widespread precipitation. An occlusion front normally occurs during the later stages of a storm. Back door cold fronts typically occur in early spring and frequently invade the east from the Atlantic Ocean. Stationary fronts are notorious for bringing about very bad weather.
In meteorology, fronts are the leading edges of air with different degrees of density. When a front passes over a region the weather conditions are marked by abrupt changes in moisture, temperatures, wind direction and speed, atmospheric pressure and often bring about changes in the precipitation pattern of the area.
