The scalding is the scientific and medical term which is used to describe burns. A burn is defined as a type of injury to the skin. Burns are caused by constant exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, electricity, chemicals or radiation.

The technicians who work in scientific laboratories (especially chemistry laboratories) are constantly exposed to harmful chemicals. If they do not have adequate protection, they may suffer from burns or scalding.

Scalding in a laboratory can be provided by administering first aid to a person who is suffering from burns. This includes dousing the affected part of the body with cold water. Cold water flushes out all the chemicals, relieves the pain and reduces the swelling. If the burn is of a serious nature, the patient must be taken to the hospital at the earliest.
