What Is Christmas Festival's History? How Is It Celebrated?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Before the founding of Christianity, there were a  number of midwinter festivals in different cultures including the feast of Mithras (Persian origin) and the Roman Saturnalia, which was a festival that involved present-giving and other features we associate with Christmas today.
As Christianity spread, the early church tried to replace the SAturnalia and, elsewhere, other midwinter feasts with a religious festival. There is no evidence that Jesus was born in December, but this gradually became accepted as his birth date and 'Christ's Mass' took over from the old celebrations. It is amazing, though, how many of the old pagan traditions have persisted, such as the use of holly and misteltoe.

We don't have a festival for christmas it is a time that we celebrate Jesus coming into the world as a savior for the whole world. And we do this by telling other's the GoodNews about our savior and sharing the Gospel with everyone.Even our families come together to share love and gifts to the children.this is how we celebrate Christmas some churches even have the Bible story christmas plays for the children and the Adults but it's wonderful and I like sharing the Good News as well.
