How To Install A Aftermarket Stereo In A 2000 Cavalier?

Answer Question

First off, open up the glove box and, using a 7mm socket, take out the two bolts under the edge of the dash. Begin gently pulling up the top of the dash, working around the top of the radio and on to the drivers side. As soon as you get that loose, there are 5 bolts holding the plastic piece to the car. Unbolt the 5 bolts and then reach under the climate control area. You should feel the edge of the plastic piece that covers the whole center console and the instrument cluster. GENTLY pull it toward you, being careful not to crack the plastic. NOTE:  BE SURE YOUR KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION BEFORE ATTEMPTING THE NEXT PART.  Pull the plastic loose all the way around the instrument cluster, or at least until you can get the radio all the way out. Take the 3 bolts loose and slide the radio out. Unplug the harness and the antenna wire. Next, go to walmart and buy the wiring harness for the vehicle. Then buy the Scosche dash install kit. You will also need an antenna wire adapter. After you get back home, everything is pretty self-explanatory. The harness is marked, and the instruction manual will tell you what wires go to what. HAVE FUN!!!
