How Does Religion Affect Astronomy Today?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Religion and astronomy are entirely dichotomous in modern times. Until late 15th Century the ancient flawed model of Earth Centered solar system had been followed by Christians generally as was the case in ancient Romans too. However, Galileo Galili proposed a unique model of the solar system and Keplar consolidated this notion when he later on created a method for deducting the orbits around the planets and presented a heliocentric model with Earth as it's center. However, there are no similarities between the two as Astronomy relates with practical sciences and is based on observation where as Religion defines Cosmos in a faith based concentric mindframe. However, apparently the notions about Big Bang seems to apparently confirm many of the believes in Major monotheistic religions and Hinduism which had been proved by the observed data from Hubble space telescope.

It doesn't anymore. Religion doesn't control scientists anymore. The less religious control over science, the more advancements made.
