What Are The Differeces Between The American And British Usage Of Solicitors?

In America, we don't have solicitors; we only have attorneys at law who prepare cases and try the case in court. Instead of solicitors, we have "paralegals." They do everything that a solicitor in England does; interview clients and witnesses, research the law, prepare documents, etc. But a paralegal cannot argue a case in court; only an attorney can do that, just like English Baristers. Paralegals in the US usually go to court with the attorney that employs them for assistance during the process of a court case. Paralegals must have a college degree in this field, and also be certified by their state.
