What Year Did The 989 Sports Games Start?

989 sports brand was earlier known as the 989 studios. Most games under the new brand name have been developed between the year 1998 and 1999. It was a division of Sony Computer Entrainment America, which was concerned with developing games for Sony Play Station and Personal Computers. Some of the games made by 989 sports are Bust a Groove, Twisted Metal 3 & 4, Syphon Filter and Syphon Filter 2, Ever Quest, Jet Moto 3 etc.

The brand name has grown from several changes and mergers. The first stage of development started in august 1995. The two departments of Sony, the product development branch in Sony Computer Entertainment and the Sony Imagesoft were merged and they together became the Sony interactive Studios America also known as SISA. In 1998, SISA was changed to 989 studios. This name was selected after the street address of the building they worked in.
