Is Kappa Particle A Bacteria Present In The Paramecium? Explain?

The kappa particle is also reffered to as a bacteria that lives in the paramecium producing the killer strains.if so how can it be inherited through extra chromosomal inheritance, which is possible only for the genes?

    Paramecium is a unicellular protozoa. They live on bacteria and other small cells. Paramecium aurelia and its bacterial endosymbionts such as Kappa have a symbiotic relationship where the bacteria infect the protozoa. This results in toxic particles that kill the sensitive strains but not killer strains. For details see the link below:
