Alison Moyet is a popular British pop singer well known for her distinct bluesy voice; Moyet first burst on the scene as a part of the Electro pop band Yazoo (1981-83) along with Vince Clarke former Depeche Mode member who was to later form the Synth pop group Erasure with Andy Bell.
The band which terminated within two years of its formation nevertheless delivered many chart topping hits and introduced Moyet to audiences in the UK and the US. Moyet's first solo album Alf (1984) was highly successful and attained the top spot in the UK album rankings.
After numerous chart buster singles like That Ole Devil Called Love her next hit album Raindancing was released in 1987 followed by an autobiographical album Hoodoo in 1991 which was nominated for the Grammy's. Her next two albums Essex (1994) and Singles a compilation of her past songs were well received by fans with Singles topping the UK charts.
After a break of 6 years Moyet came back with three albums The Essential Alison Moyet (2001), Hometime (2002) and Voice which is her latest album released in 2004 and which was placed at number 7 in the UK charts.
