How Do You Use Insulin?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Always take insulin under medical advice. It is your doctor who will be able to guide you in working out a schedule which suits you. You will find that the majority of the individuals who have diabetes and need insulin will take about two insulin shots each day to get better blood sugar control. There are others who require around three to four shots daily.

You will find a range of insulin products that could be medium acting fast acting, very fast acting or long acting. In general the target is keeping the body's blood glucose levers in the range of 4 to 10 mmol/L (that is, 72-180mg/dL) in the day, but you will have to let doctor decide after a thorough check up and look over your family history.
