If My Laptop Says It's A DVD +/-R, Does That Mean It Can Only READ DVDs And It's Not A Cd Burner?

I want a laptop with a DVD burner, so what do I need to look for? I've found one that says it's a DVD +/-R, but I'm not sure if the R stands for only reading, or if I just made that up. What does it need to say in the description for it to be a DVD burner?

In means that you can write or burn video on a disk.  +/-RW types of disks are rewritable.  You can record on them, erase the data and record on the disk again.  They're like VCR tapes without the tabs removed.  I'm sure  the laptop includes the same capabilities for music CDs.  You just have to use CD disks for music and data, while you have to use DVD disks for video.

It can burn and read both types of disks.  Some disks are labeled RW and you can't use the RW function of the disk, but you can still burn to them.
