How Long After Being Exposed Do You Get The First Herpes Outbreak?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Most people do not know when they get herpes as the symptoms do not show until almost 10 days. The first or initial outbreak can be anytime between 2 to 10 days. Symptoms of the outbreak include itching or burning feeling in the genital or anal area, pain in legs, buttocks, or genital area, discharge of fluid from vagina.

The person who has been infected will also experience feeling of pressure in the abdomen, slight fever and headaches, painful or difficult urination, swollen glands in the groin area.

It is not necessary that you would have blisters on your skin during or between outbreaks. Genital herpes virus stays for life so there will be a time frame between breakouts. Some people might not know they even have herpes because there is no out break, in such a case one should be aware of the above mentioned symptoms of an outbreak and always be careful. Using a condom during sexual intercourse at all times is important.

There is no maximum length of time. You can go for years without having a noticeable outbreak then have one what seems completely out of the blue. It can be triggered by stress or other things that lower your immune system
