What Is A Cane Bolt?

A cane bolt is used to secure one of the gates when your property has a double gate. Once you have secured the first of the two gates using the cane bolt, the second of the two gates (that is the one that does not have a cane bolt) can be latched to the first of the two gates with a gate latch.

A cane bolt is also used to securely lock any gate which is in the open position. It is made from approximately half-an-inch of steel and it is usually black in colour and powder-coated. It is also available in the heavily galvanised version. Most of the manufacturers of cane bolts which have a galvanised coating do not prefer to use a light zinc chromate. It comes built-in with two hanging guides and a strike plate. The fasteners which are used to fasten the cane bolts are also included in the set.
