How Do I Go About Ordering Broadband?

Answer Question

The first thing to do is check availability by using the BT broadband checker. Enter the number you wish to be your broadband connection.

The results generated by the checker are merely indicative, a full line survey will be carried out when you place a broadband order and connection will only proceed if line noise is below a certain level.

If you get a tentative thumbs up, the next move is to select an ISP. BT has a directory of broadband suppliers and sites such as net4nowt.com, adslguide.org.uk and ISP Review should be checked out for the best deals.

Take time to compare what's on offer. Check whether access is unlimited and don't automatically opt for the cheapest price as there are strings attached.

Select an ISP, go to their homepage and click on your preferred access deal and complete the sign up process. They will then confirm receipt of your order and later if the line survey has been successful. Thereafter, broadband line activation takes around ten days during which you will be supplied with hardware, software, connection instructions and login details to initiate broadband when your line goes live.
