How Are Paper Clips Produced?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Paper clips are generally made by folding or bending thin wires into place. The shape of the paper clip and the material it is made from for example steel or plastic give it its unique elasticity and strength. The paper clip manages to hold together sheets of paper by means of torsion. The advantage of using paper clips instead of staples or pins to hold paper together is that leaves the paper intact.

The development of the paper clip can be traced back to the latter half of the 1800s when most of its earlier versions were patented. Paper clips are known to have a number of additional uses. They can be unwound and used as lock picks or as the levers inserted into CD ROM drives as an emergency eject.
