Yes, you can do so, but this not preclude the financier/bank from collecting the balance of the loan that is due even after you surrender your car. If you car is in danger of repossession, call the bank or credit company and discuss it with them directly to find out if you can work out any options. Sometimes they will work with you, and particularly now that the economy is rather poor. Good luck.
