What Is A Sago Palm?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A sago palm is a tropical Asian palm tree. The trunk of this tree produces sago, a powdery starchy substance which is used to make the clothing and food products thicker. Sago is also a palm like gymnosperm that is found in the southern part of Japan.

The sago palm plant is conspicuous by a coronet of glittery, dark- green leaves on a thick bushy trunk that is generally 20 centimetres in diameter. In fact, the ironical thing about the sago palm is that it is not actual a palm, but a gymnosperm. The sago palm takes a lot of time to grow and it may even take about 100 years for it to grow to its fullest height. The trunk of the plan is known to branch many number of time, producing multiple leaves in the process.
