The tower of Saint Jacques de la Boucherie is located the Paris IVeme area of Paris in France. The tower was built in honour of Saint Jacques the Major One. It was constructed during the fourteen-year period between 1509 and 1523. The tower is also known in English as the Saint-Jacob Tower. It dominates the Saint-Jacob garden. This is a public garden. The Saint-Jacob garden is located between the street of Rivoli and the Victoria Avenue.
It is a Gothic bell tower which makes up the only vestige of the Church of Saint Jacques of the Butchery. The word boucherie is translated into English as butchery. It was built in the 15th century. It was destroyed in 1797. The sanctuary is located on the route of the pilgrimage of Saint Jacob de Compostelle. The statue of the famous French mathematician Blaise Pascal is installed at the base of the tower.
