Where Do People Go On Holiday In Britain?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Like many countries, the British like to holiday at home as much as abroad, why they would want to is beyond me, we do not have the weather for it usually, so we sit inside looking at rain.  Skegness was a very popular resort town when I was young, with its sands, its many arcades and amusements, model village (which i loved as a kid) and hotels, restaurants (greasy spoons a plenty I'm afraid).

Blackpool still remains a favourite, but bizarrely has become a place where people go to binge drink, so it's not as nice as it could be.

Many places still exist in Scotland and Wales that are beautiful and undeveloped by money crazy people trying to just bring in as many tourists as possible.

People do go down to the South and South East coast, Brighton, Margate, Broadstairs, Weymouth and Bournemouth.  They also go to the Isle of Wight.

Hard to improve on the above answer, but, consider the Lake District, a favourite of my in-laws. (If you have seen the movie "Miss Potter",
you will know why.)  If you are energetic, the Snowdon area in North Wales is gorgeous.  If you want antiquity, try York, or Canterbury.  You can view on the web whatever you think you might enjoy and then follow it up.
