How Do I Verify A Money Order?

I got 3 money orders from an online company and I want to make sure they are legitimate before I take a chance on going to jail for trying to cash them.

    I found this online:

Banks have to cash a money order. If it turns out to be fake, you are responsible for the checks/money orders.  When or if they bounce, you owe your bank the money. The bank may be able to take it from your accounts or sue you to recover it. In some cases authorities could bring charges against the victims because it may look like they were involved in the scam and knew it was counterfeit.

This applied on me, i am the victim of scam money order, i based on my banker, Bank of America who made the fund available to me, made anther fool decision, i lost more than i should have, if the bank straight away rejected my money orders when i first deposited it.

I rather go thorought investigation instead of lost my money.

Look on the money order for a 1-800 number or look online for the mo company. for example if it is a money gram mo, go to moneygram.com there should be a way to verify it there. If you go to google.com, you should be able to pull up any website that the money order is from and there site should either have a place to verify it or a number you can call.

I will rather go back to the source of document, i.e. USPS in my case.

I lost my money due to bank cashed the counterfeit money order (USPS MONEY ORDER) to me, and i sent my $ out.

I received 4 money orders and able to cash it via Bank of America.  7 days later, it turn out returned to me, in which the money orders are counterfeit.  I lost my money. I am the victim. This happen on Jun and july 2009.

I get my money orders from online boss, who let me work at home and do the stupid cheating things, in fact they just want your money.  They try to let you cash the money orders, and let you wire back the money to them via Western Union, etc.

        Be careful.

If you want to verify a United States Postal Service money order go to there web site www.usps.com look for there phone number call it follow the props and it will tell you what you need to know to verify if its real or not and just to confirm speak to an agent and they will look up the serial number and let you know right then and there if its good or bad.
For money orders other than USPS just go to the web site of the name of the money order and you can verify it there as well
There is no need to go though the stress and lost of funds just check it out on line, the info you need is right in front of you;.
