What Will Be Direction Of Reaction When KCl Is Added In The Aqueous Solution Of KClO3?

Give the reaction.

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

    Equation for aqueous solution of KClo3 is
    KClO3(aq)<======>K+   +CLO3-1
    When KCl is added it will ionize as
    KCl<=====>  K+  +  Cl-1
    This means that when KCl is added the K+ ion concentration increases.
    K+ is a common ion due to its increase the more K+ ion combine with ClO3-1 ions to form the salt again which is precipitated at the bottom.
    And in accordance to le-chatelier principle ,when concentration is increased on right side the reaction  will move towards left.Common ion Effect
