Why Does My Cat Keep Moving Her Kittens Upstairs Away From Their Box?

My cat keeps moving her 5 kittens upstairs as they are currently downstairs in a box. There are 5 kittens in total and she carries each kitten up but hides them sometimes in different places. Why does she do this?

This is a protective instinct your mother kitten is expressing.  She may not feel the location of the box is safe for the kittens.  It should be in a quiet, protected, or even dark space away household traffic.  I would try moving the box upstairs to a different place and see if this resolves her anxiety.
It varies from cat to cat how protective they are of their kittens.  Continue to monitor the kitten's progress--make sure all are nursing and weigh them weekly.
