Can We Connect Three Computers Without A Hub?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Internet Connection Sharing is what you are trying to accomplish and if you use Windows progamming it appears you can connect your three computers to form a network. You can use dial-up, DSL or Broadband to accomplish your task of networking your computers, but you need addressing and name resolution services for all computers on your network. In other words your main computer becomes an Internet gateway on your network and the other computers are called client computers, which share one connection to the Internet, and can share the same printer or printers.

If, the service is turned off by default, stopped or disabled services will be stopped for all your computers. You are creating a peer-to-peer network. Whatever happens to the main computer effects the other computers. One of these computers can be a wireless computer, which has access to all the information just as your other computers have access.

The place to start with your network connections is with your internet provider. They can help you build your network connection by leading you in how use modems, routers etc. With their product. You become the administrator to the network and you will only be able to do on the other computers what you set your main computer to allow the others to do. You can give the other computers as much automatic freedom as you want them to have, but if you change something on one of them thinking the main computer will automatically change, this will not happen. The main computer is the one you designate as the main computer. I recommend you go to Microsoft.com where you will find the help you need and get a good understanding of what you are attempting to do and why your main computer is so important.
