If Humans Evolved From Apes, Then Why Are There Still Apes?

Answer Question

I don't get that either, because if we did evolve from them, then there shouldn't be any apes left. This means that Darwins theory is wrong. I believe in the Bible, and hold dear to the fact that God made us. Hope this helps.

Tiggersmam, Hi, I too believe in a creation but would like to point out that Darwin did not teach that we evolved from apes BUT that we and they evolved from a common ancestor, A big difference then!

Because we only evolved from apes that stood on two legs all the time. Which is austrolapificus[don't know how to spell it.] those went extinct. I wouldn't trust the bible. It's been changed a lot

The theory of evolution does not teach that humans evolved from apes. What it does teach is that humans and Apes evolved from a common ancestor and this is totally different.

Evolution theory does not assert the originating species dies off because of evolving DNA.  It asserts that other species emerge from mutation of genes.  If the originating species dies off, it is because of a failure to adapt, not because other species may have evolved from it.  Is that helpful?

Thank you for your answer. It does make a lot of sence. I was debating this question with my husband and it got pretty heated, so I figured I'd let someone else give there thoughts.

This question is like asking, "If you descended from your grandparents, why aren't your grandparents dead?"

Or perhaps a better analogy is this: "If you descended from your grandparents, why does your cousin exist?"

For the love of God can people PLEASE open a book or something? There is NO EXCUSE to be this uneducated about evolution, or any field of science. Why do we as a people not know basic science? There are libraries, the internet, Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, etc.

        Seriously. Why?
