What Is The Largest Animal In The World?

Answer Question

3 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The largest animal in the world is the blue whale who weighs in at a massive 209 tons and 110 feet in length ~ as large as a Boeing jet. The blue whales heart is as big as a small Fiat car and if the whale allowed it, fifty people could stand on its tongue alone! When the blue whale shoots water out of its blow-hole, it can reach up to 30 feet in the air.

The whale's blow-hole is also his nostrils and are situated on the top of his head. Some whales only have one blow-hole, but others, like the blue whale, have two nostrils. Whales breath when they want to and not out of necessity. This is important because whales can't breath under the water, but in order to survive, they have to resurface every few minutes to blow out water and take fresh air in. The blue whale is not a fish, but a mammal, so it has lungs rather than gills and feeds its off-spring with milk, just like humans and other mammals. A baby whale can consume over 50 gallons of milk a day!
