Why Do We Celebrate Christmas?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

We celebrate Christmas to remember and commemorate the virgin birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. He was the messiah who was to come to save the world.  This was an ancient prophesy which was fulfilled by the birth of Jesus .   "Mass" means celebration.  "Christ" is, of course Jesus......so Christ- mas is the celebration of  His birth.  Scholars dispute the actual date of His birth (December 25th), and really the date, per se, is immaterial.  The important part is the fact that He was born to us all.
