What Facts Do You Know About Space?

The night and day skies have always fascinated man. The brightness during the day, the presence of the sun, clouds and on dull days, the moon initiates a lot of enquiry. At night, the twinkling stares and 'stable' planets, the moon and the slightest movement in between, all call for attention and intrigue. The known fact is that we are part of a system that is within a void and just a speck amongst a number of similar galaxies.

We are aware because of space research that we are the third planet from the sun and like ours, there are nine other planets revolving around the biggest star known to us. The other planets are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. However, research reveals that only our planet has a unique 'atmosphere' that sustains life. Man has been probing incessantly to identify signs of life on other planets too.

Our understanding of space is influenced by the observations and study attempted by a number of dedicated scientists over the years. Their work has been preserved and related to and revised and questioned in time, by contemporaries and juniors. The world beyond continues to amaze and challenge logical thinking.
