The only reasons that made Zelda Sayre broke his engagement with F. Scott Fitzgerald was that he was working with an advertising firm and she thought that he was not capable taking care of her financial needs as she belonged to an affluent family of a judge.

Though later she realized that she made a mistake and their engagement got resumed and later their marriage also. Zelda gave birth to the only child of the couple, a daughter in the year 1921 on October 26 and the daughter got almost similar name to that of her father; her name was Frances Scott "Scottie" Fitzgerald.

The scholars cite many reasons to their reunion and the prime reason they say is his popularity as a writer that made her rethink as it was almost the same time that she resumed their engagement when his book 'This Side of Paradise' got acceptance from Scribner.
