How Do You Care For Betta Fish?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

A betta fish needs an appropriate home. An ideal tank for this exotic pet is 1.5 gallon bowl. Place this bowl away from excessive heat or cold- like near heaters or air conditioners. Change the water periodically, ideally once a week. Don't forget to regularly clean any decorations the tank may contain like shells, pebbles and so on.

A betta fish is also called a Siamese fighting fish. This is for a reason. Accordingly do not put more than one fish per bowl- they are very territorial and there will be violence if you put two or more of them together.

Betta fish relish a good frieze dried blood worm. Ensure you have plenty in stock- they are easily available in most pet stores and if you stay in America- Wal-Mart also keeps them in stock. Try feeding them some live food like frozen brine prawns- but not too often.

Betta fish can be put in the same bowl as an African Dwarf Frog. These creatures however will consume live black worms at least thrice a week.
