    Magnesium is the chemical element that has in the periodic table has the symbol Mg, the atomic number of magnesium is 12 and its atomic mass is 24.31. Magnesium is known to be the eighth most abundant material which is found and it constitutes around 2 per cent of the crust of the Earth by weight. Magnesium is also known as the most plentiful element to be dissolved in seawater. Magnesium ion is very important to all the living cells. Magnesium is a free element and can be found in nature.

    Once it is made from magnesium salts this alkaline earth metal can be used as an alloying agent which can be used for the making of aluminium magnesium alloys, also known as magnelium or magnalium.
