How Do I Use A 4 Cup Egg Poacher Pot As I Just Received One But Don't Know How To Use It?

Answer Question

I did not know these were still in existence, this is a nice gift!
The secret to using and egg poacher is to remember, each of the poacher cups must contain an egg or some water to prevent ruining the poacher cup.

Fill the pan with enough water so it touches the bottoms
of the egg cups. Place your cup rack and cups in place
on top of the pan.  Next, rub each egg cup with a little oil
or butter as you would in greasing a cake pan.

Crack your eggs and drop each into a cup. Add salt and pepper for seasoning. Bring the water to a boil and then lower the heat. Allow the heat from the water to cook the
egg until it is cooked to your liking.

Many people like the yellow to be soft and the white of the
egg to be solid, yet soft. If you cook less than four eggs at
one time be certain to put a little water in each of the empty
cups to preserve the quality of them.

    Enjoy your eggs!

You know I just purchased an egg poacher from Cuttleryandmore and was surprised that it came without instructions. Thanks for the post and reply, I wouldn't have known to put water in the empty cups.

Put about a half in of water in the bottom of the pot.place the rack on top of the pot, add a dash of salt helps water boil faster. Bring water to a boil. Insert your egg cups into the rack.add your butter or oil let it melt or get hot then crack your eggs on a flat surface.this way you wont get any pieces of shell in the cups.open the eggs over the cups put on the lid an in about 3min or so your eggs will be done. Cooking time varies on how well done you like your eggs

My answer is the same as above with a slight variation...for those on a strict diet and the thought of melted butter makes them strike those extra calories off the allowance!!

You can also add a tablespoon of water to the cup but be warned you might end up with your egg stuck to the cup but as long as they are not runny, they are easy to pry off with the flat of your knife.  Either way, enjoy your poached eggs. :)
