What Is The Easiest Way To String My Acoustic Guitar?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

I am not an expert, but I do have a guitar and I have strung it many times and never had a problem with my method.  I start with either the big string, or the little string (not sure if it matters) and string it in order from the biggest to the littlest string.

A string winder is maybe a couple of bucks and will do wonders. After you insert the string, pull it tight toward the headstock making sure it is sitting properly on the bridge. An acoustic is generally 3+3 tuners per side. The strings have be wound toward the outside: counter-clockwise for the lower/thicker strings clockwise for the thinner 3. You don't need to use all of the string, but it is a good idea to get a few tight winds around the peg. Use wire cutters to trim.
