    James Agree was a journalist who focused on screenwriting, novels, poetry, and film critic. He was a Pulitzer Prize winner. He was born on November 27, 1909 in Knoxville, Tennessee and passed away on May 16, 1955.

    He wrote the screenplays: The African Queen (1951), Night of the Hunter (1955) and the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel A Death in the Family (1957).

    He started writing professionally as soon as he graduated from high school. His first jobs were writing for the Fortune Magazine and Time Magazine.

    He also got married right after high school, but this marriage did not last long. He was divorced and remarried in the same year. He had a son with his second wife.

    In 1951, he had a series of heart attacks. As the matter of fact, he died in the back of a taxi cab from a heart attack. He was on his way to a doctor's appointment.
