How Are Women To Be Treated As Wives In Islam?

A woman enjoys absolute equality as an equal member of the family unit. In certain ways her position as wife and as a mother is of great importance, honor and distinction. As a wife, she is the queen and mistress and the status of the husband is determined by the way he treats her. Holy Prophet SAW said, "The best among you is the one who is best to his wife, and I am the best among you to my family." He also said, "Among the believers who show most perfect faith are those who have the best disposition to, and are kindest to their families." The Holy Quran clearly states:

                "And they (women) have rights similar to those of men over them according to what is equitable." As wife, a woman is a source of joy, pleasure, delight and comforts fro her husband and the center of all worldly attractions for him. He seeks happiness and peace in his wife and she enjoys comfort, peace and security in his company. Marriage is a sacred contract and is framed by the free consent of both men and the women.
