You seem to be referring to the buttons of a shirt or a coat. It is quite simple to fix the buttons that are coming off a shirt or a coat with the help of stitching. There is no other way to fix the buttons other than stitching.
In order to stitch back the buttons, first you need to remove it completely and then put the thread in a needle. The thread should be of the same colour as the shirt so that it matches properly.
After you put in the thread, you need to place the button on the exact same spot and insert the needle into one of the four holes of the button from the top. After you insert it, you need to insert it again from below but into another hole. This way you need to cover all the holes so that the buttons do not come off again.
