What Are The Causes Of Forest Fires In Indai?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The prime cause of forest fire and sometime fire accidents in dwelling area are caused by descending air. When air is sinking or descending it is compressed dry adiabatically and moisture is completely sucked by the air and the air becomes dry and hot.  Further the composition of this air comprises of Nitrogen [approximately] 78% & Oxygen 20%. This 20% oxygen helps for combustion.  When the dry air sinks, and if any easily flammable object is heated by any means to its igniting temperature it catches fire. The oxygen fuels it.  Moreover as the air is descending from HIgh pressure naturally the velocity of the winds will be high.
These all are the main causes of Forest fire in India.  Even though forest fire can occur any time any where, where the air is sinking, predominately it may occur in Jan & Feb when the continental North Westerly wind is descending and also during July & August when the fierce South Westerly wind after crossing western ghats sinks in the eastern slope.  This abruptly causes fire in Tamilnadu forest area ; fire accidents in cracker manufacturing units in Sivakasi etc.
